With the Lok Sabha elections moving on to phase two of voting soon, political predictions have begun. These are not ‘exit polls’, which the Election Commission of India (ECI) has banned from April 19 till 6.30 PM on June 1.
These are predictions foretold by the stars and interpreted by astrologers, many of whom are watching the election process keenly. Many astrologers in India have already started predicting the wins and losses for politicians and political parties.
If the tarot card readers and astrologers are to be believed then the first phase of the elections were “not so good for the Bharatiya Janata Party”. They predict that while the BJP “will definitely win, the seats will be less compared to the previous election results”.
Speaking to The Citizen tarot card reader Prakash said, “At the most BJP will get 285 to 300 seats in these elections, according to my predictions. I do not even see them winning 230 to 250 seats. I don’t see the claims that BJP is making 370 or 400 happening, ” He added that some opposition parties may fare well this time.
“In my predictions, I see Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in Bihar doing well. In Maharashtra, I see Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackrey alliance fairing. People are saying, there is not much time, but I would say this is not the end for them,” Prakash added.
Prakash is based in Mumbai and introduces himself as a “political astrologer”. He has been sharing his predictions on social media since 2012.
In 2012-2013, Prakash claimed that he had predicted Narendra Modi will become the Prime Minister after Manmohan Singh. “I gave this prediction when he was not in the race and LK Advani's name was doing the rounds,” Prakash said.
Meanwhile, he also said that in any seat where there is a direct fight between BJP and Congress, the former is going to win. “I also see cards not being in favour of Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav, and the BJP doing well in Uttar Pradesh,” Prakash said.
Astrologer K. B. Unnikrishna Panicker said that Modi’s “chart, and the current time, are astrologically very good, and it can be said that he will come back without a break and lead the nation once again”.
“The current period — the planetary period of Mars — would be the best time in his life. He can and will execute his pet plans and projects at this time. He will achieve his goals and will not step back,” Panicker said.
The Kerala-based astrologer also said that he is “seeing a shift in Modi’s style and focus after March 2026”.
“He might contemplate a change in his ways at this time. There is also a possibility of major allegations coming up against him with an intention to defame him. From the horoscope, it can also be said that he will be active in his political career till he turns 79, that is till the period of Mars comes to an end,” Panicker said.
Not surprisingly, there has been a spike in queries from people regarding their favourite candidates and constituencies, as well as queries from journalists covering the elections.
“There are a lot of queries regarding particular candidates and constituencies. I am mostly getting a lot of queries from Karnataka. Big media channels are asking me regularly about who can win this time. But even on social media there is genuine curiosity among the people,” Prakash added.
