Students have not turned up

Update: 2019-10-09 14:45 GMT

SRINAGAR: Colleges and universities across the Kashmir valley were reopened on Wednesday - for the first time since the government order revoking Article 370 on August 5. The Citizen’s photographer BASIT ZARGAR sent these photographs this morning, October 9 - of empty classrooms and halls, despite the official reopening.

Almost 1 million troops are stationed in the Valley, some of them stationed inside colleges and schools because of a lack of space to accommodate them. An earlier dispatch sent by BASIT ZARGAR - on August 19 - recorded empty schools, as students did not turn up despite the announcement to reopen.
