Fifteen-year-old Arwa Imtiyaz could be called a voice of sportspersons in Kashmir. She is a translator for 300 sportspeople who are hearing-impaired and unable to speak.

The players are among the 250 sportspersons registered with the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Association for the Deaf, and Arwa, who is well versed in sign language, is their voice, their mentor.

"Money is not all to me but I want to help people like my mother, maternal uncle and aunt, who cannot speak. My mother Rehana can’t speak or hear”, she said.
