NEW DELHI: Bangladesh has recently figured in world headlines for violence relating to an attack on a cafe and Dhaka, as well as a spate of attacks targeting secularists around the country. A post that is gaining a lot of attention recently, however, shows a side to Bangladesh that you’ve probably never seen before.

Shamim Shorif Susom, a pilot by profession, has taken stunning images that show a bird's-eye view of rivers, lakes and green landscapes in his home country. The images provide a unique look into what life is like for people in rural Bangladesh. They also serve as a reminder that although Bangladesh has a host of problems -- Islamist violence, poverty, etc -- the country has a lot more to offer than that.

“I grew up in a village. In my boyhood, I came to study in Dhaka city, the capital of my country. Afterwards, I got my job and had to move from one city to another. This diversity, this change in life and lifestyle– like everyone else, affected me as well. It was like a never-ending quest to look for your past, a piece of green , a portion of my childhood. The way I see it, I am fortunate enough to fly, and fortunate enough to see my root, my village , my urban life from a different perspective. I can co-relate, I can mesmerize every detail of it. And at the end of the day, I’m capturing the memoirs of my reconnection. I am revisiting my country, my past, my childhood,” says Susom in an article published on Bored Panda.

Here’s a look at the images:
