Waltzing Kamala and Delinquent Donald

The curious White House race

Update: 2024-08-24 04:17 GMT

Donald Trump has lost the Joe Biden plank on which the entire Republican Presidential election campaign was balanced. Ever since ‘Sleepy Joe’ bowed out as the Democratic candidate in favour of Kamala Harris, the accusation of being the ‘old man in the race’ is now levelled at Donald Trump.

Both his body language as well as the bawdy language against Kamala are a sure giveaway of his discomfiture at the changed Democratic script.

He is even complaining that his Presidential campaign had invested $100 million with “Biden as the target”. Now that the carpet has been pulled out from under his feet, he is totally discombobulated.

‘Cackling Kamala’ (one of the many nasty epithets he uses for her), is ‘Harris-ing’ him no end as the replacement candidate mid-stream. Cackling or not, she might just have the last laugh.

And as in the popular Australian folk song, ‘Waltzing Matilda’, though Matilda in the ballad refers to a backpack carried by itinerant workers in search of a job, America could have a winning political pas de deux in Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz for the top job.

The Democratic National Convention (DNC) at Chicago got off to a rip-roaring start with political heavy weights in attendance. The Obama power couple with their rousing endorsement and Hillary Clinton’s roasting of Trump got the crowd chanting “lock him up”.

That was a moment of comeuppance for Trump because “lock her up” was his battle cry against Hillary in 2016. The DNC finale was embellished with a constellation of political and cultural stars like Bill Clinton and Oprah Winfrey. Kamala’s formal acceptance speech for being nominated for Presidency has certainly revived the Democrat party.

Kamala Harris, 20 years younger than Trump, and her older folksy running mate Tim Waltz cover the age, gender and colour bases of the electoral ball game. But still they have to call out the lie-bombs that Trump lobs to somehow claw his way back.

Desperate to garner support from cultural icons, he created a false post in which he is accepting a Taylor Swift endorsement. It was repudiated promptly.

Trump with his rambling speeches confined to personal attacks on rivals, warning his MAGA followers how ‘terrible’ Harris will prove for the country. The Democrats have simply dismissed the Trump-Vance combo as ‘weird as hell’, and to turn the knife in the wound more this ad was beamed from the Trump tower.

Donald sounds as if he is going to self-destruct. There are alarm bells ringing in the Republican camp about the lack of policy projections in his speeches. Gauging from the deluge of memes on him, he seems to be the joker in the pack.

His trump card seems to have been stolen, like the stolen election of 2020 that Trump lamented about. Deviously, he abetted a large section of his blind followers into mounting an attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021 in a brazen effort to overturn the election results. A sad first in American democratic history.

Diversity, Equality and Inclusivity (DEI) is a term of abuse for the white supremacist Trump clones. To find some juicy tidbits from Kamala’s past, they’ve dredged up the connection between her father Donald Harris and Amartya Sen and other Marxist economists in the 60s, to brand Kamala as a ‘lunatic leftie’.

A tech boffin in Elon Musk and a rich political buffoon in Donald Trump do not necessarily spell success. Elon Musk, the turncoat, switching from Democratic support in the last election, is now promoting a kindred volatile bully.

He hosted a live streaming audio interview of Trump on X, a site from which he was unceremoniously ousted. Trump has even offered to give him a portfolio if he comes to power.

Trump, like the Evil Queen in the story ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ from Brothers Grimm’s fairy tale, is getting delusional about his good looks. This is “malignant narcissism” that leads him to believe his fantasies. He is even accusing Kamala of using AI to enhance her looks on the Time’s cover.

Alas! The mirror on the wall is going to shatter and Kamala, not so white as Snow White, who goes beyond just good looks, might be declared a winning beauty of this political pageant.
