Kashmiri Girls Join Students Protests in Large Numbers
SRINAGAR: Students clashed with the police at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk on Monday as the Valley continued to remain tense over a viral video of the Army allegedly using a Kashmiri youth as a ‘human shield’ against stone pelters by tying him to the front of a military vehicle.
Girls came out in large numbers to join the male students in a protest rally at Lal Chowk with the police using tear gas shells by the dozens in an attempt to break the procession. However, at the time of reporting the students remained determinedly on the spot including the girls, seen arguing with policewomen on occasion. Several students are reported injured.
The tension is palpable with violence increasing by the day.
