Professor (Dr.) Jitendra Nath Misra holds a Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University and is a retired Indian diplomat, serving as ambassador in Portugal and Laos, and consul general in Ho Chi Minh City. He is an Adjunct Professor and Distinguished Fellow at the Jindal School of International Affairs of O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat, India. Most recently he was a visiting professor at Jamia Millia Islamia University, and previously, a visiting professor at University of Lisbon, and University of Social Sciences and Humanities- Vietnam National University. Earlier, he was an adjunct associate professor at Georgetown University, and a lecturer at Jamia Millia Islamia University. Professor (Dr.) Misra has book chapters and academic and literary publications in world- renowned journals in India, the U.S., Australia, Portugal, Bangladesh, and Vietnam, including in World Policy Journal, World Literature Today, India Review, Nação e Defesa (Nation and Defence), The Interpreter, Peace and Security Review, Strategic Analysis, India Quarterly, IDSA Journal and Indian Literature. He has over 165 op- ed columns in India, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Vietnam, and regularly appears on television, including on BBC World, BBC News, Swedish Radio, SIC Notícias, RTP Television, Sansad TV, NDTV, CNN News 18, Rajya Sabha TV, Times Now, Zee News, and Mirror Now. He has been quoted on BBC, AP, AFP, France 24, The National (UAE), The Economic Times, The New Indian Express, Rediffmail.com, and other outlets. Professor (Dr.) Misra has delivered lectures at Foreign Service training institutions, universities, and think tanks in India, the U.S., the U.K., Australia, Portugal, Vietnam, Colombia, and Laos, as well as under the Distinguished Lectures programme of the Ministry of External Affairs, India. He has a grant from Indian Council of World Affairs for a book on India- Portugal relations. Professor (Dr.) Misra has served as an advisor to the government of Odisha on sports, and is the vice president of Jawaharlal Nehru Hockey Tournament Society. He has written extensively on sports. He is the author of The Sport of Pace and Grace: A Biography of Field Hockey, Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Newcastle- Upon- Tyne (Under contract/ forthcoming).
